How to Get Here

The event will take place at the attractive modern campus of the University of Bath, located on the outskirts of the historic city of Bath. Bath is a spectacularly beautiful city which stands on the River Avon among the hills of England's West Country. The city's compactness and striking architecture - Roman baths and sweeping Georgian terraces - combine to produce one of the most elegant sights in Europe. The city has ancient origins - the Romans built a temple and famous baths, now restored to their original grandeur - and in the early eighteenth century, Bath became England's premier spa town, where the rich and celebrated members of fashionable society gathered to 'take the waters' and enjoy the town's theatres and concert rooms. During this period the renowned architect, John Wood, laid the foundations for a new Georgian city to be built using the honey-coloured stone that gives Bath its mellow and indefinable quality.

The region in which Bath is situated is a centre of high technology industry, especially of the aerospace and defence industries - the region has airframe, engine and helicopter manufacturers and a supply chain of over 1000 businesses. The automotive industry, electronics/computing, measuring instruments and medical devices also have a strong presence in the region.

We have highlighted those hotels, hostels and guest houses that are close to bus routes or close to the University by car. Useful Visitor Information

University bus service

There are currently 2 separate companies providing services to the campus. They are the 18/410/418 (generally, orange buses) and the U18 (generally, blue buses). The tickets for the two companies are not interchangeable.

Both services are cheap and reliable, relative to typical British public transport. The price for a return ticket on the U18 is £1.40.

The buses run frequently (~15 minutes) between campus and the city centre, see the conference map for the routes of the buses and locations of useful bus stops.
